A Quick Story by Pastor Noel
———
Last night I was sitting in a session (online) where my friend Sarah Strong was leading a workshop for a group of local college students that we hired for the semester to help families in our neighborhood navigate education in the Covid season.

Sarah, a mathematician by trade, was teaching the tutors on how to think about math and how to tutor it. Yes. Math at church.

Then it donned to me that many kids in our neighborhood make conclusions about self-worth based on whether they can or cannot understand this subject.

So it is not a stretch then to say math is an everyday theological issue. And that this and and reading have to be part of our neighborhood advocacy.

Then it donned to me that brilliant minds like Sarah often don’t have space within church discourse to offer their finest ministry.

It’s incredible. Sarah spoke in that room with such passion as if she has been having a conversation with the Lord about math. And I think it is because she has.

Today I stand amazed imagining what we as a community can become if we give ourselves permission to rethink church. If church became less of a weekly meeting and more of ordinary radicals who are inspired by the spirit of the Lord to stand in our communities’ most critical gaps.

And you know math is a critical gap.

And no. This does not mean that we have to start a Christian school because leaving families behind who need us to live our most creative lives would be unchristian.

Bye for now.

Morning friends!

Love ebenezer church miss being with you all

Love of God is always moving

hi everyone. Brisa

I'm glad it's retarded and I got to see your segment I'm in the hospital I will be here for a couple of days I was admitted Thursday evening I have a staph strain in my bloodstream They're doing IV and Braddock drip that should kill it

That a California thing to clap after a movie. Children minister you clap after the songs

Like spiritual warfare

Good way to reflect the message

Thank you

Amen

Lol

Acting surprisingly in a way He always said He would

Also, we are how “God comes” after people

Yes on risky ... you know it’s God when you don’t want to follow not when you are excited about the big shiny stage ... Everyone that has been on this road has struggled with whether they wanted to lead on this road

Yes. That was the hope ... It’s Noel btw.

Hold mirror to power. Yes. Always. And energize for change

The future church will look more like this ... I hope. Not “salesy” just good Jesus conversation

Yes. God turns the light bulbs on.

So important. It’s hard for us but God loved Ishmael too and blessed him and made promises to him ... it’s hard but it’s in the Bible

I like this church a lot.

That’s the anthem!!! One to sing to every appointment, every opportunity to serve

Let’s goooo!!!!

Mmmmhh. Yeah. Coached into the counterfeit

Yoooo!!!! That’s my favorite
